If you dread dental cleanings because you're worried about pain, there's good news. You don't have to delay dental cleanings or deal with worry or fear anymore. There are some things you can do to make teeth cleaning pain-free. Here are the top tips that can make dental cleanings easier for you.

Use a Specialised Toothpaste

A specialised toothpaste can be very helpful if you deal with teeth pain. Purchase a desensitising toothpaste that's made especially for people who deal with sensitive teeth, and then use it faithfully in place of your usual toothpaste. You can purchase desensitising toothpaste at your local chemist or supermarket -- and it comes in several different flavours as well.

Improve Your Oral Hygiene

One of the easiest ways to eliminate or greatly lessen teeth cleaning pain is to start with cleaner teeth. Whilst cleaning your teeth, your dentist or hygienist has to remove both plaque and tartar -- and if you have a lot of accumulated tartar, that can get painful. To avoid painful teeth cleanings, brush thoroughly twice daily -- and don't forget to floss as well. Flossing is the best way to keep the plaque out of the crevices between the teeth -- and since plaque turns into tartar with time, it's the best way to make your teeth cleanings less painful.

Use Less Pressure Whilst Brushing

It's quite common for people to use too much pressure whilst they're brushing -- are you making this mistake? You don't need to press down hard whilst brushing. A firm but gentle motion is sufficient to keep plaque from building up on tooth surfaces. The harder that you press down whilst brushing, the more sensitive your teeth will be due to their naturally porous nature. You don't want to have a teeth cleaning whilst your teeth are highly sensitive, so brush with care.

Take Pain Relieving Tablets

Talk to your dentist about what type of pain relieving tablets are safe for you to take before your teeth cleaning. In many cases, a couple of over the counter pain relieving tablets, taken an hour before your teeth cleaning appointment, can help you be much more comfortable whilst your teeth are cleaned.

As you learned above, there are several ways you can prevent teeth pain during a teeth cleaning. Speak to your dentist or dental hygienist to make sure that you're doing everything that you can to have a pleasant and easy experience.
